Boston Carnival Village launches its first annual “Jouvert on the Blue” Boat Cruise. Launch date, Friday, August 26, 2011 at 9:30PM, aboard the M/V Clemens in Boston.
Boston, MA (Sunday, June 19, 2011) Boston Carnival Village presents its first annual “Jouvert on the Blue Boat Cruise” Trinidad and Tobago Carnival is an annual event celebrated on the Monday and Tuesday before Ash Wednesday. A major component of carnival is Jouvert and it is also said to have been created in Trinidad. – Jouvert is a large street party that takes place at the break of dawn and many of the participants wear costumes depicting characters of the day, many designed by the masqueraders themselves.
Boston’s Trinidad style carnival follows those traditions and on Saturday , August 27 at about 6:00 AM there is also a Jouvert component and Boston Carnival Village is taking it a step further by launching its annual “Jouvert on D’ Blue Boat Cruise”.
Boston Carnival Jouvert on D’ Blue will allow the uninitiated to experience the traditions of Trinidad carnival Jouvert on a Cruise around Boston Harbor; it will take place on Friday, August 26, 2011. Boarding at 9:30PM at Gate C, which is located behind the Boston Harbor Hotel.
Tickets are available on line at our web site www.bostoncarnivalvillage.com/registration.htm . The price includes food, (a cash bar is available). Music is provided by one of the best in the business Dj Mad Man Maddy from WACK 90.1 FM, Trinidad. A surprise guest Soca artist will be added to the program. Tickets will not be available at the boat and it is a 21+ event.
At Boston Carnival Village we dedicate ourselves at improving Boston’s Trinidad style carnival and this event is designed to do just that.
