By Michael C. Smith... your culture warrior
Hello Boston Carnival Village fans, we de culture warriors are back. During the winter months here in Boston we were hard at work
continuing the process of making every effort of taking Boston carnival to the
next level, and that is “Making Boston Carnival what Macys Day parade is to New York City” a part of our general motto and commitment to Boston Carnival. Many thing were
accomplished, as I continue to wonder why I did not take this road 10 years
ago, however as they say better late than never, and thank for your continued
support.
• Some of the many things we accomplished were: Our web site www.BostonCarnivalVillage.com was completely redesigned and thank you all who took the time to send us a few
compliments. It is loaded with features and rated among the best carnival sites
in the world and we are not stopping until we get to number one.
• The long awaited photography exhibition “Streets of Color” is here it will be launched in August. I want to take the time to thanks those
folks at Lesley University for hosting this unique exhibition. I is a series of
photographs taken by me on Boston Carnival over the past three years 2005 to
2007. to learn more click on www.BostonCarnivalVillage.com/StreetsofColor.htm
• The link problems with our book “Boston Carnival Photographic Essay and Survey is resolved and can be purchased
online for less than $19.00 click on the link www.lulu.com/content/332904 I understand a few other carnival associations out there are interested in doing
the same thing in their area and we are ready to assist them.
I hoped to have another item on this list, however due to scheduling conflicts we are a bit
behind schedule.
We are looking for a few good people to help take Boston Carnival Village magazine to a wider audience,
so if you can interview and write an article, find advertisers/Sponsors or with
distribution I would like to chat with you call me at 617-335-8085 ASAP. We are
schedule to be on news stands by August 30, every year.
Congratulations to the band leaders and the C.A.C.A.B on the 35th anniversary of Boston’s Trini Style carnival. We wish you another peaceful and successful carnival
season. Without you bandleaders there are no us and we respect and appreciate
your efforts over the past 35 years and hope the next 35 years is as
financially rewarding as those many wonderful and beautiful design you have
given to the community and breadth taking images for us photographers.
Mas camps are opening, the parties and concerts are being planned so as I have said so many times,
support de culture by attending the Mas camp opening, fundraisers, and those
event sponsored by CACAB Kiddies Carnival and the King and Queen show. These events help defray the cost
of many of the activities like lowering the cost of a costume or helping CACAB meet its financial obligation and believe me they are many. To learn more about
Mas camp opening and up coming event check the band leaders pages on our
website and check out our calendar page www.BostonCarnivalVilage.com/calendar.htm you don’t have to head out to the stores to get a flyer the events that mean anything
will be posted here. - PROMOTERS MAKE A NOT 2000 hits/week
Out of town folks that are unable to reach the CACAB to get your booths and register your bands, I am making every effort to solve
that communication problem; however the information listed on the website is
all that I have available.
P.S. – I normally don’t do this but I am a bit prejudice here, I love this great “Trini Artist” David Rudder. A national promoter wants to bring David Rudder and his band to
Boston, If any of you local promoters are interested please give me a call at
617-335-8085 Only if you are interested in organizing a concert, and not a 2 am in the
morning appearance.
Peace from de culture warrior more next month…
